Living on Guam

I'm living in Tumon Village, the largest on Guam. Just across the street from the beach. Yesterday, I walked into the Fiesta Resort and to their private beach. Finding a comfy beach chair I caught some sun. After walking the beach for almost an hour I watched some Japanese tourist examine a sand crab.

The first guy, smoking a cigarette took several pictures then touched the crab with his cigarette. Not nice, I've heard the Japanese have no respect for wild life...but come on. Now this other Japanese guy, oh yea, he's wearing a speedo, with a beer gut, lost most his teeth, the rest are crooked, walks over to the crab...the first guy is still taking pictures....picks up the crab and yells for his buddy (who's out swimming) to look what he found. This guy just walks away with the crab while the first guy takes his picture. Wow, can you say rude! Now the guy with the crab goes over to some Asian girls that were sunning and shoves the crab in their faces....screaming and running the girls afternoon was done. Finally the crab got tired, pinched speedo guy, who drops it. The crab scurred off to the safety of his hole. Another entertaining afternoon.

Flower Power

Sleep alludes me tonight. I'm still having a tough time with the time & date difference. It's 9:30 PM Monday January 25th and I start work tomorrow...at least I do a UDS, get blood drawn ( this is a Rabies free island) get some vaccinations, flu and H1N1 again. When my pee comes back clean and it will...alcohol is my drug of choice....I'll get my hands on my first pregnant patient.

I hear epidurals are few and far between because Guam Memorial Hospital dosen't have dedicated anesthesia. I have some good ear plugs in my nurse bag.

So to the name of todays thought. I love flowers, my favorite job was a florist. Even better than a Paramedic or a Firefighter. I grew flowers, picked flowers, dried flowers and even eatten flowers. I've photographed flowers every where I've traveled. Please enjoy these beauties.

Getting started.

Thanks to Marion who encouraged me to get my own Blog started. I hope I do as well as she does on Meryl's Musings.
